Coach Grissom
Kelly Grissom is a retired Marine with combat tours in both Iraq (2004) and Afghanistan* (2005-06) who started training in Judo in Okinawa, Japan in 1990 while stationed there as a young Marine. He continued to train in Judo, to include competing for the now defunct, Marine Corps Base Quantico Judo Team, until the demise of the Marine Judo program. Kelly holds a Nidan (2nd degree black belt) in Judo, recognized by the USJA and USJI. In 2002, Kelly was introduced to Leo Dalla Black Belt, Professor Chad LeBrun of the LAB Martial Arts Academy in Fredericksburg, VA. Under Professor LeBrun's guidance and teaching, Kelly earned his blue belt from Master Dalla in 2003. From 2004 to 2008, Kelly trained in Honolulu and Kaneohe, Hawaii under Professor Relson Gracie and Relson's Black Belt instructor, Ronn Shiraki, as well as with Relson's Brown Belt instructor, Mark Kurano. In 2007, after 3 ½ years at Relson Gracie’s academy, Kelly earned his purple belt from Professor Helio Gracie’s second oldest son, Relson. In 2008, Kelly returned to the Northern Virginia area and resumed his training with Master Dalla. Under Master Dalla’s guidance and coaching, Kelly earned his brown belt in April 2010.

Jiu jitsu Classes Begin
There is a new face teaching here at Power Kix! Kelly Grissom will be teaching a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class here on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. For the month of January, any Power Kix student (16 and up) may take Coach Grissom’s class at no charge. For the month of February, any Power Kix student that wishes to continue with the Jiu Jitsu program, will be extended a 50% discount. We are very excited about having Coach Grissom and his Brazilian JiuJitsu here at Power Kix. Please give him and all of his students a warm Power Kix welcome and check out the new martial art being offered here in our school. Happy Training!

Power Kix to host AAU National Team
Training
Power Kix will host the AAU National Team Training on January 15th-17th. AAU National Team members from around the country will come together with National Coaches, Olympic Athletes and World Champions in Taekwondo. We are honored to host this event for two years running! Regular class schedule is in effect.

Competition Team workouts have started!
Attention all students who are interested in trying their hand at our competition teams, and those students who are already seasoned competitors! Team workouts have started! They are being held Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:00pm. You must be a Green belt or higher with full sparring gear. There are no additional fees for these open workouts.
